St. Martin of Tours
St. Martin of Tours was born in 336 in modern day Hungary. He followed in his fathers' footsteps and entered the Roman army. Early in his military career, he showed himself to be a Christian by sharing his cloak with a beggar. He eventually left the Roman army, and founded a monastery.
As bishop of Tours, Martin gained a reputation as a great preacher and miracle worker.
St. Martin is laid to rest at the Basilica at Tours, France.
